PowerHack is a two-day hackathon where skilled immigrants would have the opportunity to showcase their skills and connect with employers.
Congratulations on getting accepted to participate on our October PowerHack event! We are excited to have you join us!
PowerHack is a one of a kind opportunity for you showcase your skills and apply your foreign experience to solve problems that local stakeholders are facing in front of employers. This is an excellent opportunity for you to test your technical and collaborative skills while expanding your network at the same time.
Our October PowerHack event is a two-day hackathon process in which participants will self-form into teams and problem-solve in the first day before interacting with the employers to discuss about the solutions that they have been working on in the second day. Three micro-learning sessions will also be offered in the first day to enhance your learning experience.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided throughout the event. Participants are expected to bring their own laptop and dress business casuals for the event.
Traction on Demand, Perfect Mind and Sherwa Online have all signed up as our employer partners for this hackathon.
Traction on Demand will be seeking for:
- Salesforce developers
- Full-stack developers
Perfect Mind will be seeking for :
- Software system architect
- Senior Software Developer – Technical Development Lead
- Technical Support Specialist
Sherwa Online
- Lead Engineer (Full-stack)
Although employers are seeking candidates for these positions, please keep in mind that PowerHack is a hackathon and a networking event. Employment is NOT guaranteed.

PowerHack is a pilot project funded through the Workforce Innovation and InclusionProject (WIIP). Led by the Diversity Institute at Ryerson University, WIIP is a three-year program that brings together employers, non-profits, and settlement agencies to address the employment needs of newcomers and produce a skilled, resilient. Canadian workforce. WIIP is funded by the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and will enhance settlement services delivery and provision across Ontario, Nova Scotia and British Columbia.
